A new Danish robot for improvement of the working environment for craftsmen
has now been given the blue (and yellow) stamp. It is a matter of the multifunctional lift named ”Smartlift 500” which has recently won the prize of honour at the award of “Arbejdsmiljøprisen” – The Working Environment Prize - on Sweden’s largest fair for building and contractors’ machinery, “Byggmaskiner 2009 in Gothenburg.

”Smartlift 500” has been developed by the Smartlift company in Nykøbing Mors, Jutland, Denmark, and is a handy little robot taking over the “backbreaking” work of handling windows, panes, and other work weighing right up to 500 kg. Quoting the words of the Swedish jury motivating their decision for the award of this prize of honour:

”Valuable aids have long been available for the handling of heavy building materials. But a flexible solution has now become available, combining strength with fine-motoristic movement. The electric operation further contributes to promote the overall environment as well as the working environment”.

 

”Smartlift 500” is self-propelled and capable of performing all the functions required to have the work transported and placed correctly. This applies particularly to lifts, side change, telescoping of arm, and tilting of the work. This lift will retain the work by four large suction cups, and all operation and handling are performed easily and in a manner logical from a small control panel. The drive motor has a power of 1000 W, and ”Smartlift 500” will drive round by itself anywhere on a hard and level base - even up in a box van. It has a rear drive, and due to the integrated counter weight it will lift up to 500 kg – without any need to mount extra support legs.

On account of all these qualities, craftsmen may be relieved altogether of those heavy and difficult lifts – a great asset to the working environment. Further, the “Smartlift 500” works as quickly and effectively that substantial savings on the staff account may be made in many cases.

 

The Smartlift company has been on the market for a couple of years, marketing lifts which will lift work weighing up to 250 kg. But this new “Smartlift 500” has been dimensioned a little heavier all the way through, and will consequently handle even heavier lifts.
